So... what's here?
There's a brief explanation about what we do and how we set about it. On this website you can quickly read about...If you are planning to have an effective presence on the web, contact us to discuss your requirements without obligation.
Why we 'hand-code'...
There are software programmes for constructing web pages, both hobbyist and industrial strength. They are usually appropriate for the purposes for which they were designed.
Content management systems (CMS) allow those with no coding experience to simply enter or submit material for publication in pre-defined editable areas. This is immensely useful for maintaining a degree of consistency across a large website and where there are a number of contributors and a high frequency of updating, etc.
In certain areas of our work, we ourselves use clients' proprietory content management systems to update basic information.
However, in many cases, the cost of purchasing and licensing the use of a CMS is prohibitive and very likely not an advantage anyway.
Even with industrial strength CMS's, web development tools and even web site editors that are specifically designed for the domestic market, there is often a need for intervention by the website's author to produce a desired result.
By hand crafting many of the web pages we produce, we are able to modify not only the way content is presented, but also amend the underlying code when necessary, to reflect the constantly developing standards and browser-compliance issues.
